I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Florida Coast to Coast Tour. Troy and Kris were great hosts every day. Their enthusiasm and ability to deal little problems that popped up made this trip enjoyable for everybody. Also, Cathy was very efficient with the shuttle van in load times and arrivals at the next hotel. It was great getting know people from all over the country. - Kim Ashley

This was the first tour my wife and I have taken with with People Cycling and it was terrific! The ride down the Atlantic coast and later, down the Gulf coast, featured the more populous segments of the ride while crossing the width of Florida included rail trails through beautiful natural areas. And there were tortoises, donkeys, and Sandhill Cranes! The ride was very well organized and ride leaders Troy and Kris along with van driver Cathy kept everything rolling along smoothly. The information sheets about facilities and attractions along the route were helpful and the Social Hour gatherings were fun and informative. Local knowledge, like the $1.99 banana split special near the end of one of our longer days was like the proverbial cherry on top! In short, all the planning, organizing, and logistics were taken care of and we just had to ride! It was a great group of riders and I’m looking forward to our next tour with People Cycling!

Amazing ride. Wow Troy, Kris and Kathy were over the top with support, ideas, logistics and fun social hour each night. We had weather from one extreme to the other and head winds we all cursed at but every day was a new adventure and everyone had a great time. Troy and Kris really worked extra hard on all of the planning and making sure every rider was supported. I would do a ride again with them in a heartbeat.

Excellent tour. Troy and Kris Wilson are extremely well organized. Happy hours were well stocked with beer, wine, snacks and lunch prep items for the next day's ride. Routes were well planned. Communication before and during the trip was outstanding. They also communicated verbally and in written form on points of interest and nearby restaurants. The biking itself is relatively easy. The only variable is the wind. Can be very gusty but at least that's not combined with hundreds and/or thousands of feet of climbing. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour.

This was my first People Cycling ride, and wow the bar is set high. Everything was extremely well organized and clearly communicated. The two Zoom calls and pre-ride emails made expectations clear, and the on-the-road updates (social hour plus WhatsApp alerts) were timely and helpful. Routes on RideWithGPS were accurate and easy to follow. The hotels were friendly and comfortable overall. One was short-staffed at check-in, and another was remodeling and changed the breakfast setup at the last minute, but that was out of the ride team’s control. The Grand Prix in St. Pete was the weekend after our ride ended, consider different days to allow for hotels closer to downtown. Our ride dinners were tasty and offered something for all palettes. The Florida C2C trails were excellent: well maintained, with plenty of restrooms and good meal stops along the way. The more sparsely populated in-state stretches were clearly communicated in advance (thanks, Troy), which helped with planning. And yes, Florida is flat.; this is a nice ride if climbing isn't your forte. A couple of mornings were chilly, so light layers are a good idea. A SpaceX launch in New Smyrna Beach on Saturday night was an unexpected bonus! The best part? The people. I loved the conversations throughout the ride. It might be fun to add a few conversation starters at social hour to help folks connect even faster. Highlights included the supplemental rides, especially St. Augustine with Brian’s commentary, plus New Smyrna Beach, Winter Garden, Tarpon Springs, and St. Pete. Trail favorites were the Suncoast Trail, Starkey Wilderness Trail, and the Pinellas Trail. Already looking forward to the next one.

This was my first People Cycling ride & I had an awesome time. Troy & Kris were our ride leaders & they were the best! The ride was a mixture of roads & trails which I really enjoyed. There wasn’t much climbing, but we had a couple of days with a good headwind to make it challenging. My husband & I live in a snowy area, so to be in the sunshine, riding on pavement in February was lovely. I really enjoyed the social hours every late afternoon, it was a great way to meet the other riders & have a beverage & snacks. I highly recommend this ride, especially with Troy & Kris as the ride leaders.

Wonderful adventure across Florida. We rode down the Atlantic Coast into the charming beachside towns of St. Augustine & New Smyrna Beach, each a delight to visit. Then across Florida, seeing parts of the state usually outside the normal tourist attractions and stops, through cattle country and to the Gulf. Most of the ride on paths that meant little or no traffic issues. Troy and team did a fantastic job of orchestrating all the details so all we had to do was ride and enjoy the scenery, and beauty of Florida.

About People Cycling

People Cycling is a bicycle touring club, which you can join for free. We offer Domestic and International Cycling Tours which are led by volunteer Ride Leaders. Our tours are made up of a small group of participants (typically 15-20 or so) who want to ride an average of 30 to 55 miles a day over a one or two week period in interesting regions of the world. Our tours range in price from frugal getaways to luxurious adventures. We travel road, gravel, or mountain bike styles, and all bicycle types – including e-bikes, recumbents, and tandems are typically allowed.

Our ride leaders are volunteers and do not financially profit on tours they lead. They are also given broad discretion on how to lead their tours, and we consider them our greatest asset.

People Cycling tours are operated at cost or at lower cost (as negotiated by our ride leaders) than individuals can obtain on commercial tours. Within the cost of a tour, there is a nominal fee to support club operations and provide tools to ride leaders to manage their rides.
