Steven Frost designed the most interesting, fun and challenging bike tour that I have ever done. It was extremely well organized and planned out. His culinary background guaranteed three amazing meals daily always highlighted by an over the top dinner at a local restaurant. With his drone, he captured our challenging rides , the magnificent views of the terrain and the Aegean Sea. I enjoyed all of the hotels for their unique qualities. The side activities highlighted our experience, my favorite being the trip to a local farm. Lastly, Steven is a delightful, fun and warm leader that I soon felt like he was a family member. His lead assistant, Tassos, was a true asset to Steve's tour. He was always there in time of need, whether it was a flat tire or losing sight of the directions (being lost). He rescued us many times using his whistle to direct traffic so we could ride safely. Tassos offered insight into Greek culture and present day issues and shared various bits of information that made my experience more interesting and personable. Finally, I left with a full heart of love and awe after spending ten days with 20 people that offered their amazing and unique selves openly, with humility and humor.

The scenery along this tour was fantastic, even if a couple of days had some steep grades mixed into the more gradual-grade climbs that prevailed for most of the trip. But what really made the trip such a fun time, beyond the group of friendly riders we had, was the amazing food and the fascinating cultural excursions/tours that we had. Dinners always began with a smattering of appetizers for the whole group, hand-picked by Steven--the guide--who has lived in Greece for 25 years, and was a Michelin-rated Chef in the UK before that. Our Tours, of Spinalonga, the Minoan Palace at Knossos, and the Arkadi Monastery, were hosted by two different women, each one of which was a Greek Archaeologist. It was such a fun, comprehensive vacation, that happened to include a strong component of cycling in the mix.

The tour in Crete was well organized by the Greek Cycle Holidays leader, Steven Frost. The trip highlighted the unique island with stunning views of olive orchards, the Aegean Sea, charming villages and cities, along with some challenging hills and downhill thrills. His selected activities on the rides were educational and great fun, especially the farm experience. The food was amazing, and wonderful restaurants were selected with fabulous food from the region with new taste treats for all. Hotels were comfortable with lay over days in two hotels, I would definitely ride again with Greek Cycle Holidays. People Cycling is very fortunate for this contact.

About People Cycling

People Cycling is a bicycle touring club, which you can join for free. We offer Domestic and International Cycling Tours which are led by volunteer Ride Leaders. Our tours are made up of a small group of participants (typically 15-20 or so) who want to ride an average of 30 to 55 miles a day over a one or two week period in interesting regions of the world. Our tours range in price from frugal getaways to luxurious adventures. We travel road, gravel, or mountain bike styles, and all bicycle types – including e-bikes, recumbents, and tandems are typically allowed.

Our ride leaders are volunteers and do not financially profit on tours they lead. They are also given broad discretion on how to lead their tours, and we consider them our greatest asset.

People Cycling tours are operated at cost or at lower cost (as negotiated by our ride leaders) than individuals can obtain on commercial tours. Within the cost of a tour, there is a nominal fee to support club operations and provide tools to ride leaders to manage their rides.
