From sea to shining sea with a whole lot of exploration and enjoyment in between! This cross country adventure starts in downtown Seattle with the Space Needle ½ mile to the north and Pike Market ½ mile to the south of our starting hotel. We end in New York City pedaling over the George Washington Bridge, down past the Cotton Club, the USS Intrepid, World Trade Center area and, after a ferry ride to view the Statute of Liberty, we pedal over the Brooklyn Bridge to our final destination. Pedaling in 14 states, here are several sites or three we’ll see within each: The Pacific Coast; pedaling along the Columbia River Gorge; through the forests, as well as along rivers (Clearwater, Lochsa) of Idaho; Missoula and then Helena; into Yellowstone and east thru Wyoming (Cody, Gillette) to Devils Tower, America’s First National Monument (the National Park Service was created ten years after this designation); into South Dakota and thru the Black Hills National Forest (Mt. Rushmore), east to the Badlands National Park; into Nebraska where we pedal 150 miles of the Cowboy Trail before staying in downtown Omaha. We cross the Missouri River into Iowa and pedal through Des Moines and to a baseball field (if you build it, they will come).
