This magnificent odyssey of a bicycle tour encompasses five fascinating countries, taking us all the way across the Balkan Peninsula from Croatia to Bulgaria passing through Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia. We will ride 1122 km/ 697 mi from Split in Croatia, to end the journey in Bulgaria’ capital, Sofia and will experience the myriad patchwork of countries, cultures, languages and people that make up an incredibly diverse, cosmopolitan part of the world where civilisations have flourished, collided and intermingled over centuries of colourful history. Our journey starts at sea-level in Croatia, where we can enjoy the crystal clear water of the Adriatic as we follow the coastline and ride through picturesque Mediterranean towns, cosy harbours and vineyards and island-hop to the historical city of Dubrovnik. In Montenegro, we experience the contrast of the charming old-towns, and the vibrant Budva Riviera with its super-yachts and glamorous beaches before riding inland to Virpazar and Lake Skadar, the largest in southern Europe surrounded by magnificent views of both the rugged coastline and magnificent Balkan Mountains in the distance.
Entering Albania and riding towards the mountains we pass the glittering Lake Komani, encountering stunning views at every turn.
