The Republic of Korea, better known as South Korea, is famed for perfectly blending the ancient and modern, seamlessly adopting the new without forgetting ancient ways. Known in Asia as the ‘Land of Morning Calm,’ South Korea's geography, deep rooted culture, world class cuisine and modern infrastructure of bike lanes makes it a treat for bicycle travel.
Our adventure begins on Sunday 3rd April 2022, at the Kensington Hotel in Seoul (ICN). It takes place over 15 days and 14 nights in the most popular month to visit, and around the start of cherry blossom season. Our journey travels almost exclusively on bike paths, and focuses on Ancient Korea, but framed within its modern setting. From skyscrapers, and trendy art districts in the backstreets of Seoul, to quiet countryside villages and Imperial tombs from centuries long dynasties. Our Journey ends on the Island of Jeju (CJU) on Sunday 17th April. The international airport at Jeju offers many international options for return flights.
We bike the length and breadth of the country, on pristine and mostly flat bike tracks, with our bike lane passports filling up with provincial stamps. Delving deeply into the region’s culture, we sample traditional countryside life, stay in a sprawling traditional house and soak in mineral rich hot springs, another of South Korea’s natural treasures.
